If you’re anything like me, you’re probably tired of feeling like you’re constantly trying to figure it all out. Being a teenager and then rolling into adulthood often feels like you’re stuck in a never-ending quest to figure out who you really are, what you’re good at, and how to make it all count. And let’s be real, it can be straight-up exhausting. At times, it feels like all that soul-searching just leaves you burned out and doubting yourself, like you’re not good enough for anything. But here’s the thing, it’s totally okay to still be figuring yourself out, even if you’re 30, or beyond. Life isn’t some competition where everyone races to win by finding their purpose. It’s a journey, one where you should be doing what you genuinely love, not ticking boxes off someone else’s checklist.
Sometimes I find myself just talking out loud. Yes! to myself! Trying to really hear and understand who I am. Honestly, that’s still kind of a mystery. I am someone who loves to explore. To try and test out different things. To see if this or that could be my thing. I often find myself juggling multiple new things at once, starting, stopping, switching. But then there’s always that fear lurking in the background. What if I just end up lost, with no one to pick me up? and I think that’s the mistake many of us make when we’re younger, thinking that someone else has to swoop in and save us when things go sideways. Depending on others to fill in the gaps and make us feel okay about our journey.
But here’s my take, this might not be everyone’s truth, but it’s mine! We need to be able to explore ourselves. To find out what makes us tick, what lights us up inside. It’s about waking up each day with even a sliver of joy or motivation for what you’re doing. Because you know that spark? That’s what keeps you striving and searching for more.
It’s absolutely okay to be in your late 20s, 30’s or beyond and still be figuring it out. It’s okay to keep looking until you find what makes your heart sing. The world is big, and there’s no one right way to navigate it. Just keep chasing what makes you you. You’ll eventually get there….
And in the meantime remember that, it’s all part of the adventure called life!
